Business Partners Kirsty Ridge and Scott Mackenzie took over their first pub (The Sun Inn) in 2015, and after completing a refurbishment on the dated and run down town centre venue, the reopening was a huge success.
Managing Director Kirsty Ridge says “Our focus was on customer experience, great tasting, freshly cooked food and an extensive drinks selection, including local real ales. We brought back to life a business with so much local history, and the changes and new menu were so well received by the local community”
They were then offered the tenancy for two more pubs, from which to choose. They took both; the Commodore in Grange-over Sands in February 2017, and the Black Cock in Broughton-in-Furness in July 2017.
September 2018 saw the next natural step in our business growth: the purchase of Lakeland Brewhouse (formally Stringers Beer), an established and award-winning microbrewery which needed commercial guidance, sales experience & investment. Now, it is selling the highest number of casks in its history and making news with its superb gluten-free beer.
In February 2020 the 4th pub, The Royal Oak Spark Bridge, was added to the portfolio then in August 2020, The Royal Oak inn Curthwaite was added.
